About Us

Nightingales Home Care is a locally owned and operated home care agency. We have been serving the home care needs of Grand Valley residents since 2005. We are invested in your care and in the overall quality of life in our community. The Grand Valley is our home as it is yours.

Our Story

Janet Walker started Nightingales in 2005, her vision and efforts were instrumental in setting the standard for home care services here in the Grand Junction area. Martin Boyce and Jeremiah Miller acquired the company in 2018 and subsequently John and Susie Huston acquired the company February of 2024 after working in the Home Care industry for 7 years in Grand Junction.

We believe people recover quicker, are the happiest, and thrive in a familiar environment—their own homes.  If possible, everyone should have the option to “age in place.”  Quality home care allows the client to stay in control of their own life.  Their routines and home remain theirs while maintaining independence and consistent quality of life. Elderly clients, such as those experiencing dementia and macular degeneration, do better in their home environment to which they are more comfortable and familiar.

We strive to honor our clients’ wishes through excellent customer service and client care. Services are customized to each client through collaboration with the client and their family.

Good home care helps maintain a clean environment, provides good meals, companionship, and a sense of safety and security.

MISSION

John Huston

Owner/Director

My wife Susie and I have called the Grand Valley home off and on since 1998. We are both Coloradans by birth and Grand Junction has been a significant part of our lives.  We are both passionate about helping people improve their quality of life. Susie graduated from Colorado Mesa Uuniversity and has spent her career in the HR field.  I graduated from University of Wyoming and have been in HR or business leadership for my entire career, the last 7 in leading Home Care in Grand Junction.  The transition from the corporate world to small business owners has been an exciting journey. Our interests outside work include time with our children, hiking, camping, fishing, and living the outdoor lifestyle we are all blessed with by living on the Western Slope of Colorado. We truly are invested in your care and in the overall quality of life in our community, as home care has been a part of our families lives as well. The Grand Valley is our home as it is yours.
